BRUCE POULTERER
Bruce was drawn to watercolor painting as he watched his mother painting in her home studio. He took lessons from different watercolor artists, most of his time studying under Howard Watson. Raised in Historic Delaware County, his love for buildings influenced his paintings and limited edition prints. He has exhibited in many shows including Yellow Springs, Brandywine Arts Festival, Stone Harbor, American Caner Society, Ocean City Art Show, etc…and was selected by DRESSAGE AT DEVON to be the first artist commissioned to paint a watercolor that was reproduced and sold at their show to raise money for cancer research for CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL. His paintings are in the homes all over the US, Australia, Canada, South America, Europe and South Africa. Several years ago, while he was painting, a woman came over and observed him painting for awhile. She said “I enjoy you paintings very much…I see God reflected there”. That was one of the nicest comments he could have received. Bruce feels the Lord has blessed him in so many ways and hopes to reflect His love for us in his life and paintings.

JULIA WIGENT
I am most myself when I am creating, whether it be works of art or the written word. Both are expressions of my inner self, exploring the Greek maxim “Know thyself.” By looking both inward and outward, expressing what I see in both, my relationship to the world and all that is in it, I find myself closer to the Creator and thus my real self.
I began creating artwork seriously in 8th grade, when I asked my art teacher, Nancy McFarland “do you think I’m good enough to take art in 9th grade?” and she not only said yes, but she encouraged me to explore the talent I had shown and consider being an artist as a calling.
I was further encouraged by Sharon Esch and Sue Dilts who both continued to support me to become an artist. Sue Dilts worked at helping me push out of the path of realism I was drawn to at the time, and her urgings to “Just Let Go…” stay with me to this day. I also credit my parents, who told all of their children to become what they are called to do and do it well.
My more recent path with collage brings me to a deeper appreciation of using visual art to express world- and self-exploration by juxtaposing images in an incongruent way that takes my thought processes to the end of an idea or belief and questioning what I think and feel of the world and my place in it.
I still paint and draw, loving the vibrancy of color on canvas and the stark, tonal nature of graphite. With collage, those are my three favorite mediums of creating art. As for writing, I have compiled some of my poems, written about my life as one of eleven children, and am at the beginning of story about how beliefs define our behaviors. I have also kept journals since the age of sixteen, having binders, notebooks and scraps of thoughts, feelings and life experiences. I am able to use by written musings to further my artistic expression.
I am participating in the 9th International Collage Exchange (April 2007), hosted by collage/assemblage artist Dale Copeland of New Zealand, which can be seen at http://virtual.tart.co.nz. I am a contributing artist to Artists In Cellophane™, a not-for-profit group that creates original artwork dispensed in old cigarette machines (for more information go to www.artomat.org). I won 3rd place in the DaVinci Art Alliance Show “Cut It Out” in 2006, as well as 1st place in the Community Art Center Member Show, 2005.
I am an active member in The Artists’ Guild of Delaware County, www.delawarecountyartistsguild.com, where local Pennsylvania artists meet regularly to discuss art, watch demonstrations and participate in group and single artist shows. I also am a member of the DaVinci Art Alliance in Philadelphia and recently joined the National Collage Society.
Please feel free to comment on my work or contact at Julia.Wigent@verizon.net. I will respond and look forward to any comments and critique.
